FAQ

Most Commonly Asked Wingfoil Questions Answered

If you have any more questions, we are happy to answer anything concerning wingfoil lessons with us.

What is wingfoiling?

Wingfoiling combines a hand-held inflatable wing with a board mounted on a hydrofoil. Once you have enough speed the foil lifts the board out of the water and you glide silently above the surface — it is the fastest-growing water sport in the world.

Do I need to kitesurf or surf before learning to wingfoil?

No. Wingfoiling can be learned from scratch, and previous board experience simply speeds things up. We start on a large board without the foil so you master the wing first, then add the foil.

How much do wingfoil lessons cost in Essaouira?

Group lessons (max 4 students) cost €90 for 2h, €180 for 4h, €260 for 6h and €360 for 10h. Private one-to-one coaching costs €150 for 2h, €280 for 4h, €390 for 6h and €630 for 10h.

How long does it take to fly on the foil?

Most students control the wing within the first two hours and get their first short flights on the foil after 6 to 10 hours. Progression is quicker in the lighter, steadier winds of the morning.

What equipment is provided for a wingfoil lesson?

Wing, foil board and foil mast are included, along with wetsuit, harness and all safety equipment. Photos of your session are available on request.

Is wingfoiling dangerous?

The foil is sharp, so technique matters — which is exactly what a certified instructor is for. We teach in shallow, uncrowded water with a helmet and impact protection, and beginners never share the same water zone.
